The series follows the exploits of the guests and staff during a week spent at a luxury global resort hotel chain known as The White Lotus.

Each season features a different ensemble cast, with Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Rothwell, and Jon Gries being the only recurring actors through all seasons. The first season was filmed and set in Hawaii, the second in Sicily, Italy and the third in Thailand.
In Season 3, which was released in February 2025, Blackpink member Lisa played a minor character named Thidapon Sornsin (also referred to as Mook).She is a health mentor at the Resort in Thailand. She is friends with the Resort's Security Guard Gaitok, who is played by Tayme Thapthimthong.
