Jisoo (지수 jisu) was born on January 3, 1995 (age 30) in Sanbon-dong, Gunpo, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She is a lead vocalist and visual of the group BLACKPINK.[1]
She made her solo debut on March 31 2023 with the single album ME.
Personal life
Kim Ji-soo was born on January 3 1995, in Gunpo, Gyeonggi, South Korea.
She used to study at the School Of Performing Arts High School. She eventually transferred schools when her family moved to Seoul, South Korea.
Career
Predebut
In 2011, Kim joined YG Entertainment through auditions as a trainee. In 2015, she made a cameo appearance in the KBS2 drama The Producers alongside label-mates 2NE1 Sandara Park and Winner Kang Seung-yoon. In the same year she featured in several advertisements including Samsonite alongside actor Lee Min-ho, Smart Uniform, LG Electronics, and Nikon.
On August 2011, Jisoo became a YG Entertainment trainee, when she was 16 years old, she trained five years for her singing career.
In 2012, she was revealed through the “Who’s That Girl?” teaser by YG Entertainment, and it was followed with two photos in January of the next year.
2016-present: BLACKPINK, solo
On August 8, 2016, Jisoo debuted with the single album SQUARE ONE as a lead vocalist and visual of BLACKPINK.[2]
On August 18, 2021, JTBC Drama's YouTube channel announced Snowdrop upcoming Drama Line-up, announcing that Jisoo would be making her acting debut as the lead role.[3] The drama aired sometime in.
On January 2, 2023, YG announced in a press release that Jisoo would be releasing her solo album sometime in 2023.[4] On February 21, YG revealed that the music video would be filmed overseas and that it has the highest production cost out of all BLACKPINK music videos.[5] On March 6, a teaser poster was posted which announced that Jisoo would be debuting on March 31.
On March 31, 2023, Jisoo debuted as a solo with her first single album ME.
On February 14, 2025, she released her first mini album AMORTAGE.
Impact and influence
In Gallup Korea's annual music poll for 2018, Jisoo was ranked the tenth most popular idol in South Korea, receiving 4.8% of the votes. In April 2019, she was ranked the 10th most followed K-pop idol on Instagram, with 12.8 million followers.
